Animation studio 2:Reboot project_Earthbound

Hello there,
In this blog post,I  am going to talk about the process of the rapid project,which we created with studio 1 and 2 students.

-What is this project about?

A: In this project, we were doing a short music video for 30 seconds in 6 weeks limited time.The content of this rapid animation is to revolutionize the old Nintendo game Earthbound into new version style.

This music video goes as a loop and everything pop up from the ground when the camera moves forward.

-Modeling assets?

I had listed the assets to make the work clear for each of us and hopefully can help the works can be separated properly!

-Problems solving?

We were using slack as our communicate platform and also talk face to face in our class time.However, I’ve been struggling with our team work management,which wasn’t be separated efficiently. I was doing modeling for 2 characters and then help our group mate modeling a tree and also texturing.The problem of our team management was one person took a lot of work to do and some of the others had a problem with their modeling to put in the scene, therefore, we had to delay our schedule day to day and cause our testing and rendering time becomes extremely rush!Through this rapid project experience,I learned how to do it better next time in the part of team management.Firstly, team members has to understand the animation contend which they are going to create.However,it is essentially to  present each others strong field in an animation’s pre-production, production and post-production and then decide each members role in the team.

-How do we combine elements with consideration of visual fundamentals to produce aesthetically cohesive work?

We were considering this issue before beginning our process.Therefore,one of our group mate,Simon,he modeled one character’s base mesh to let me and another group mate keep building the rest  of the character.In additional, we had one person which is doing all the texturing for the characters and most of the assets.

How do we integrate audio with animation?
We were cooperating with an audio student working on this music video. In the first meeting,we presented our storyboard and also asking audio student to put the explosion sound in specific second.However,we do have a problem to import the music into 3Ds max,so after rendering every animation frames,we fixed the music part in Premier Pro, and the result end really nicely!
